Why would Taylor Walker say they were about to sign a new lease unless they actually were? If there was any question of demolition proceeding as per the timetable on the notice wouldn't they be broadcasting the fact that they weren't going to be given a new lease to put pressure on the freeholder? I fear you are right that the petition is a waste of time though. Conservation status seems to be the way to go but would that have the disastrous unforeseen consequence of making it more difficult to knock down the Metro Bank building? |
