Thames Road is parked on both sides, resulting in a lack of visibility for pedestrians. On many occasions I have had to jump back when trying to cross between cars, to avoid vehicles travelling way too fast for the conditions. Many councils are now imposing 20mph limits, and as we know, where others tread, LBH usually follows. LBH has a significant amount of s106 cash which needs to be spent to avoid it being returned to developers (ridiculous!). They need to use a little of that money to apply the 20mph limit along Thames Road and Hartington Road. I would have thought full width rumble strips at the start of the roads and at regular intervals, with a couple of flashing speed warnings would deter speeding. If the Police made the odd surprise visit with a speed gun, you'd see a change in driver behaviour. The Grove Park Group will champion this much needed measure, and I hope the Strand-on-the-Green Association will join us to make our roads safer. |
