"Going south on the A316 just past Staveley Road there is a sign warning for speed cameras and a 40MPH sign, but at that point the speed limit is 30MPH" Yes Gary, I know that one well as I often go that route. It seems absolutely extraordinary but could it mean what it says??? I suspect not because it is on only one side of the road: Taken from The Alliance of British Drivers Signing Requirements for Speed Limits: "The remainder of paragraph (4) lists circumstances in which a sign on one side of the road only is required, but these do not apply at the beginning of a speed limit, as the wording of the paragraph makes clear. Direction 8 plainly states, therefore, that there must be a sign on both sides of the road (or both sides of the carriageway, if the road is a dual carriageway) at the point where a speed limit starts". |
