Sign for pedestrians seen today at the very busy Chalker's Corner: painted on the road is "LOOK LEFT", and the arrow beside it to indicate which direction to look? It points Right! Seemingly unimportant when written down here but on the road, for people in a hurry, could be dangerous. But why not correct it? Must have been like that for a year or more I would guess. But that is topped by the cycle lane markings on the pavements near B&Q. Coming from one direction the signs make you halt at the road. But when you proceed across the road you have to then cycle on the right hand side of the next pavement! ie cyclists coming from the other direction already have to be on the right hand side ie wrong side! What surprises me is that A) those who supervise the workmanship presumably sign them off as correct and B) when you draw it to their attention nothing is done. If it is that unimportant why bother in the first place? What examples has anyone else seen? |
