Hi,

Some bees have taken up residence under my deck and are busily flying in and out of the gap between the boards.  I was warned that nesting bees can damage property but having done some research on the web it appears that it is Honeybees and wasps that cause the most damage.  It seems that Bumblebees pose little risk to a property as they have little excess honey, less bees and that the nest is abandoned after a couple months with the Queen moving on.  Is anyone out there able to confirm that?

If so then it's just a case of determining what kind of bees I have here.  Hopefully, they are Bumblebees.  I've tried to take a couple photos which I'll try to post in the following message although I've never done this before on the Forum.  I can describe these bees as follows:

Plump, furry, white tail, two bands of yellow, two bands of black and a black face.

If anyone can help me identify these and confirm if they are Bumblebees?  Should I should leave them alone for a couple months and hope they go or should I get the nest moved/removed?

Thanks!

Joe
