David I think you are being unfair. I am sure that every member of the team wanted desperately to win last night. To play in a World Cup is every footbalers dream and so few achieve it. I admit they were worse than rubbish last night, and not much better than the game against the USA. It is strange because they played so well in qualifying although the cracks were begining to show in the two friendlies before they flew out. I have many footballing fans - who are passionate about their own teams and the England team. We all seem to think it is formation that is the main problem. We would like to see a more balance side with maybe Joe Cole on the left and Lennon on the right. The current midfield just doesnt work and maybe a 4 - 5 - 1 formation would be better. Gerrard and Lampard are not doing anything and Rooney can only do something if he gets the ball. In my mind we are losing it in midfield. However you are wrong when you say that they are only interested in their salaries and their lifesstyles.
