Seems unlikely, Tina - if they are on a register of stolen vehicles then presumably the clamping unit would be aware of that. I suppose it depends on whether anyone bothers to report an unknown vehicle outside their property to the police in case it was stolen - I reported one the other day that had been outside our house for a fortnight or so but it was probably just a Heathrow parker. A couple of years back we had a van dumped outside and no-one would do anything until the tax disc ran out, whereupon the abandoned vehicles unit smashed the window and towed it away. The Porsche owner is probably lucky that they have not yet taken that action with his Cayenne. I have an idea that the clamping unit goes to the registered address of an untaxed vehicle looking to see if it is on the road, rather than just randomly driving round checking tax discs, but I may be wrong on their modus operandi.
