| One suspects this is a diversion to move responsibility onto individuals when really you’d hope for some rapid government response to any crisis, such as water tankers at the end of the road or emergency food supplies set up or delivered. Meanwhile, the water system in a traditional British house has a large storage tank in the loft specifically designed to deal with interruptions to the water supply. And a traditional TV and radio with access to terrestrial channels via an aerial works without the internet and allows centralised communication with the general population. And a landline telephone works without local power. Maybe the wholesale move away from these technologies towards on-demand online i-everything should be discouraged. |
