That means that the testing of the water for those sites which have been named official bathing sites also ends.  Only many of us do continue to use our rivers, seas and lakes and not always just those sites which are monitored. Surfers Against Sewage have a questionnaire asking people to tell them more so that they can understand where and when people are doing this and if, when and where they have become ill following this.  In the legislation regarding human health only bathing sites are covered but many of us use the rivers seas and lakes etc for other recreational purposes - they aren't just bathers - and don't just stop at the end of September.
