I'm not sure it's more RMT members turning up, I think it's more ASLEF members crossing any picket lines they might face (or not calling in sick to avoid doing so). The bigger issue for the unions is that Londoners are now much more adept at dealing with strikes. Firstly, there's the Elizabeth line - it does some serious lifting, more so when another line is down (or drivers are on strike), and then there's the WFH brigade.

The driver strikes that paralysed London years ago are a thing of the past, and it's only really when station staff or line controllers go on strike the capital really grinds to a halt.

Will there be more strikes about this current dispute? Hard to say. Many RMT members don't believe the rationale behind the exec's hunger for industrial action, and they're paying dearly every time they strike (the hardship fund rarely pays out, and it couldn't cope with what we're seeing now). Unlike many other parts of LU, drivers can't do overtime, so there's no way to recoup the lost money.

As for the service, I didn't see anything like 40-minute delays. I went into the city (and back) on both days which meant a Turnham Green - Earl's Court shuttle and picking up a city bound train from there. I even got a seat both ways!
