I have updated my website with more of Chiswicks Rate Books from 1851 to 1873, there are a few maps and a bit of info you may not have seen before and if you are interested in Grove Park or Oxford and Cambridge Roads there is a separate index showing how the areas grew from just a few houses. I’ve also added a pub index with photos of almost every pub and I have added the 1887 rate book, I’ve no plans for now to redo 1874-86 as I am currently adding 1851-58 to the site.

Although very little of Chiswick we know today had been built there are some roads that were built in this era, so you can look to see if your house was one of the first to be built on your road.

There is Paxton, Short and Sutherland Roads, Elliot Road, some of the houses in the Glebe Estate and a few of the roads in Grove Park. Oxford and Cambridge Roads and the roads nearby, Brandenburg and Blenheim. As well as a few roads that predate the books, there are some that have long since disappeared.
