The Peace Board is quite clearly a ruse to enable Donald Trump to maintain his high profile on the international stage when his second term as POTUS ends.

It will also offer him the means to undermine anything that his successor as President attempts to do with respect to the UN and international affairs.

Apparently he will have the right to appoint his own successor as Chair of the Peace Board - allowing his son, or son in law or possibly daughter to step up to the podium.

In the words of John Lennon

" All we are saying is give peas a chance."

On a more serious note the UN is in desparate need of reform. It has become sclerotic and unable to act when it needs to. Bodies like UNESCO and the WHO have not lived up to their lofty ideals. The need for united universal action on climate change is clear but is undermined by vested interests.
