By the sounds of it, the works are just maintenance rather than overhaul, which is quite concerning given the state of the footbridge. Many of the steps, particularly on the Eastbound side of the bridge are of varying depth, height and angle which is incredibly dangerous.

I'm also concerned that with the footbridge out of order, many foolhardy souls will cross the tracks at the Western end of the platforms, rather than slog around to the bridge - especially if an E3 is due in on Burlington Lane! I do hope that SWR (or Great British Railways) will monitor the station and ensure that shortcuts aren't taken (in repairs or passenger routes...)
