| Neighbours. The High Road approaching Kew Bridge is temporarily closed - and the silence is well, golden. The lives of residents at this end of the High Road have been blighted for weeks and weeks by endless roadworks, lane closures and noisy traffic queues. Crossing the road can take 5 minutes. This morning. Completely quiet. I spent an hour out the front weeding the never to be seen freeholder's overgrown garden. No angry horn blaring, no noisy engines running. People strolling down the middle of the road to work. It's really quite heavenly. More please. (P.s I don't own a car). |
