| A client of my firms had a problem with a competitor buying up ads when their product name was a keyword and then using text that made it look as though they sold that product. Legally it was a breach of trade descriptions but Google have deeper pockets that every other company in the world so they were advised not to challenge it. Much of Google's revenue comes from what is basically deception. As a user my advice would be when searching to ignore any ads and look at the organically generated links below which are generally more reliable but, even for them, dodgy companies will game them to appear prominently. |
