I think it would definitely better in the centre. The new flats being built between Ferry Quays and Watermans will have a riverside path and a Brentford which had Waterman's Park then a riverside path from there to a new town centre with river focus would be a great improvement. So I don't buy the 'flats blocking our view of the river' argument. You can't see the river from a car anyway, nor from a large part of the footpaths and the Waterman's where it currently is actually obstructs riverside walks etc. There is also a (I think) disused office building attached. @Keith - I personally thought the High St scheme was OK in layout. There'll always be a scuffle about how dense the development is (see also Lionel Road) but I think redevelopment of what is pretty exclusively a derelict area can not come too soon, so bring it on. I was pointing out that there are some around (they seem to abound in Brentford) who will never be satisfied with any scheme. |
