Patrick, Yes, and maybe as real as the author's suggestion of a new tube route along the existing line from Southall towards Brentford, which at least was in grey. It's good to see Crossrail on the map. As you mentioned, when that comes in 2018 travel patterns will be shaken up, and quite likely towards justifying an improved Piccadilly service at Turnham Green. But TfL are obviously in no hurry to commit on this one. They originally announced they'd respond to the Turnham Green consultation by the end of last year, and have been curiously silent with regard to Boris's announcement in December on this. Their delay is consistent with the overall lack of detail about the Piccadilly Upgrade/New Tube for London, which keeps on getting pushed to the right (three years last year, from 2014 to 2017). But maybe what TfL really need is to get pinned down on one relatively small detail in all this, committing to a full Piccadilly service at Turnham Green at some time in the next decade, and the rest of their plans for the network will fall into place around it.... |
