Thomas, you capacity to nurse a grudge is as impressive as your knowledge of the minutiae of tracks, trains and signalling. However, your obsessive antipathy to the idea of a stop at Turnham Green appears to have blinkered you on this issue. There is no dispute that it is thoroughly reprehensible for TfL to put out a press release of this importance on Christmas Eve. That it is an attempt to hide embarrassment on their part is self-evident and their capacity to seamlessly implement a complex project on time is questionable given their history. You are so determined to be right about Turnham Green that you are prepared to twist any piece of information to prove your point. You appear to believe that your knowledge of the arcane relating to technical details will intimidate people into believe anything you say must be correct. I bow to your greater knowledge of the detail of what is going on but in showing off your expertise you have neglected to suppress information that undermines your own argument. It is you who have told us that funding for the upgrade must be utilised by 2018 and that the new contractor's system is likely to be more straightforward to implement. These two key facts show that this announcement increases rather than reduces the chances of the upgrade been finished on time. I'm not going to bet you or any one that it will be because TfL tend not to do things to schedule and I don't see why this project should be any different but sacking Bombardier if anything makes it more likely than less that they will be close to their deadline. |
