Bet, Francis? Are you claiming your expertise on railway signalling is greater than your expertise on newspaper's illegal voicemail hacking, which you assured me back in 2011 was one rogue reporter (it wasn't, by the way). Perhaps you should take a look at your record before pontificating? Anyway, for those interested in the story instead of trying to offload the blame for why they fell for the spin onto me, the official OJEU notice is out and makes interesting reading: "It is imperative that the renewal and upgrade of the signal and service control systems on the SSR network is completed in 2018 or as soon as practicable thereafter." "The Contracting Authority is seeking expressions of interest for the provision of an ATC system on London Underground Limited's Sub Surface Railway Network (SSR network) with the potential of extension onto other adjoining London Underground lines" "The Contracting Authority requires the ATC system to be a proven system requiring little or no product development for deployment on the SSR with demonstrated high levels of reliability. Companies with ATC systems requiring high levels of product development will not be considered" http://ted.europa.eu/udl?uri=TED:NOTICE:339-2014:TEXT:EN:HTML&src=0 As for timings, they're trying to do in 100 days what took 640 days on the last contract - move from inviting tenders to contract award for one of the most complicated resignalling problems in Europe. Cost has gone up at least £100m and possibly up to £250m more than the 2011 contract. |
