"Door to door sellers are very rare around here (Hadley Gardens) so why this sudden increase, two in a week?" It's to balance the sudden decrease the previous week, when nobody called.  :-) This has been going on for years. The story is usually that they're just out of prison, and trying to keep out of trouble by selling stuff.  I suspect that their aggressiveness is triggered by realising that they've been conned by the people who have set them up in this scheme.  One of them dropped an ID card in our road a few years ago.  It had an address in Essex with a bogus postcode. They should not be selling door to door in London without a pedlar's licence.  See http://www.gov.uk/pedlars-certificate
