| Yes! And why should 'target' groups be ghettoised like that? Don't we believe in social mobility? I'm sure single mums don't just want to meet single mums, and would be more likely to attend a mums group that didn't pigeon hole them. What we need is for the council to see the value in providing these facilities for ALL children and to make sure that ALL parents realise what is available to them. If the centres are even just reduced, the only beneficiary will be Starbucks or Gelato Mio that have play areas. These are nothing compared to the cadenza music, baby gym and 'stay and play' sessions, to name but a few. Mary MacLeod should meet some of these mothers. I stopped her on the street and she fobbed me off that she would reply to my email on Monday, that was last week and not a peep. An eerie silence... |
