The only thing they seem to have done is put up a temporary gate at the entrance to the building site. Actually, to be fair, they have managed to paint it a nice blue colour and put up a "wet paint" sign. The platform itself, however, seems to be in exactly the same state it was two weeks ago. I swear I haven't seen anyone even *resembling* a builder doing any work on it in this time - and I spend quite a lot of time staring at it from the eastbound platform while waiting for a train to take me in the wrong direction. Is there perhaps some sort of Chiswick-based time-warp in operation in the area? The night closures of the bridge have been going on for *nineteen months* now. That, clearly, is a surprisingly large number of months in order to repair a small suburban railway bridge. Similarly, it seems to be taking a jolly long time to do whatever it is they're doing to the station. Was it that their builders just couldn't make it round this month? Is this the TfL equivalent of your plumber not being able to predict his arrival in units of time more precise than "a.m." and "p.m."? - "Sorry mate, I'm not going to be able to look at your station in October... are you around in November at all?" |
