Topic: UK export of garbage to Turkey

With CoP imminent (end of November) in Antalya, Turkey, it seemed a good time to check whether Hounslow council has been involved in this filthy  trade.

Councillor Amy Croft of Chiswick Riverside ward, Cabinet Member for Infrastructure, Enforcement and Recycling, has investigated this at my request, and can assure us that our garbage does not go to Turkey.

I write here to publicise the horrors that the trade engenders, as for instance highlighted in this article (which oddly does not mention the UK's part in it), and to applaud Hounslow council on this matter. I propose they use their/our example to discourage other London councils from participating.

Thus we, as Hounslow residents are not implicated in the garbage export trade to Turkey, but our potential implication in garbage export elsewhere—Indonesia, for instance—remains to be investigated.
