Gas works proceeding at glacial pace. September 14 more likely to be October sometime. Apparently they need to dig right across the A4 to the other side, but don't actually have the TFL permits needed to do so. I imagine they'll blook one or two lanes at a time - should be pretty chaotic in and out of of London on the A4 for who knows how long.
