I have read the article about the proposed move of Chiswick Main Post Office to Robert Dyas (or should that soon be known as "Post Dyas"?), several times and would like clarification please. It says 'Three open-plan serving positions will be installed within a convenience store within the existing premises'. I am assuming that this is Robert Dyas' existing premises, rather than the existing post office / convenience store premises in Heathfield Terrace? Also will a convenience store be installed in Robert Dyas, making the company's hardware section even smaller (though perhaps with the famous case of glass animals reinstated)? The same happened in the West End, some years ago, with the massive William IV Street Post Office, just off Trafalgar Square, relocating to Robert Dyas on The Strand. This seems to work, although the counters are in the basement, down a flight of stairs, so not perfect for those who are unable to manage them. Let's hope the same doesn't happen with the basement of the Chiswick store, which, having been am additional sales floor for some years, now just seem to be a staff only store room. It's a shame that the proposal for a stand alone branch just off Turnham Green Terrace has been rejected, as that would have probably been more convenient, but hey!
