| One for the bird nerds. Nuthatches are one of our cutest birds, but are also usually pretty elusive. Many people have never seen one and probably never will. Anyway, if you did want to see one, now is your chance...they are putting on a show in Chiswick House grounds. There's an oak tree between the house and the lake, right by the path, and a pair seem to be nesting in it. I've been seeing and hearing them every time time I walk past, for a while now. There's a free app called 'Merlin' that you can use to identify the sound, to figure out if they are around. Then you can stop and have a look and hopefully spot them. Binoculars help a lot, if you really want to see how handsome they are. |
