| According to some, the south is pretty awful too! I still smile when I recall the German owner of my company was over from Hamburg and he insisted on hiring a car and driving himself and his wife from the City to Heathrow. Somehow he missed the exit to A4 then M4 at Chiswick roundabout and he ended up driving through what he called “a deprived and very dirty and dangerous looking place called Brentford!” He was astounded that anybody would live there. His wife continues to dine out on the story at how angry she was that he insisted on driving himself and then got lost and ended up in such a scary area where she could have been carjacked or murdered!! Yes, yes, I know it’s an exaggeration but it’s what she felt at the time. Naturally I tried to tell them that Brentford has some very nice parts but they wouldn’t have it!! |
