Did you bother to look at the breakdown Steve? Among some people there WAS a majority for increased taxes e.g. people who identified as supporting Labout and the Lib Dems. In very stark contrast to those who identified as supporting the Conservatives or Reform. Now this is a (lazy) sweeping generalisation but I’d hazard a guess that the median income of someone who votes Conservative is higher than the median income of someone who votes Labour. An assumption I agree. Do you think that we should be taxing the ‘wealthy’ more by the way? I ask because you appear to be criticising this government for not having the balls to do so. Do you think that Labour shouldn’t have restored the WFP to those who are now again eligible for it? Please do say because that’s what you appear to be suggesting. FWIW I would support higher rates of income tax for those in the fortunate position of having to pay tax at the higher rates, but I also am in favour of the U-turn on WFPs. What about you Steve? |
