"Perhaps Vanessa should go up to Bradford,or any number of forgotten northern towns and tell the citizens that they are lucky they don't live somewhere else.I wonder how that patronising nonsense would go down with them.No one can patronise like a true Labour supporter" What is wrong with you? I had no intention of 'patronising' anyone, I'm just sick of people whingeing on when regardless of what you think we are STILL a democracy - we get to vote people in and out, something denied to millions around the world. I don't believe I said it was perfect - nothing ever is, but if we want things then we have to learn they need to be paid for and that means higher taxes. We hear politicians banging on about a 'low tax economy' as if that's the answer to everything, it isn't. The only other way is for those who can afford it to pay privately - so if you want a situation like the healthcare system in the U.S. - fine, most of us don't but we do want our NHS to be properly funded and to deliver when we need it to, ditto our schools, our transport, our water, our roads, then it is going to cost and we are ALL going to have to contribute more. As a Labour supporter I am disappointed with the first year of this government, but I hope you can tell me what it was exactly that in their 14 years the Tories did for those 'forgotten northern towns'? Yet, you seem to expect the Labour party to perform miracles after ONE year. |
