https://www.thameswater.co.uk/help/water-meters/installing-meters-in-our-region They are allowed to state that they are compulsory in water stressed areas. We live in one in London. There are hosepipe bans. People in other parts of the country are going to have reservoirs foisted on them and homes there will be lost because Londoners are using too much water in their opinion. Water meters make it easier to find any water leaks that there are which also just has to be a good thing - so long as we also report them and we make sure they fix them. As for dumping sewage in the rivers - it would be good if we had a much better pipework system with fewer combined rainwater and sewage outlets which when there are sudden floods have been emptied into our rivers (fewer now we have the supersewer). Instead of those if we used more water butts we wouldn't have so many overflows and floods when we get those much greater sudden rainshowers. |
