“ Motorists don't pay road tax. No one has since before the Second World War. ” Yes, yes, yes but most people still refer to it as Road Tax and everyone understands what it is except for a few pedants who are determined to get iffy about it. Google  “Road Tax” and it is clear that the term is widely used and accepted by all except a few snowflakes. The exemption of EVs will soon end and users of EVs will have to pay this road tax irrespective of the zero CO2 claim,  which is a good thing as diesel cars are being phased out and revenue for road tax is diminishing year on year.
