| Philippa, I get the strong impression you never used the Stirling Road site before its demise. It had separate containers for wood, cardboard, garden waste and metals and would take paints, oils and bottles. It wouldn't take items like mattresses and white goods but that was about it. We used to visit at least a couple of times a month often on the way to a walk in Gunnersbury Park. Of course we have kerbside collection but sometimes due to a clear out or a heavy stint of garden or building work, more needs disposing of than can be collected so it was invaluable to have this facility and it has been hugely disappointing to hear that it won't be restored. |
