Jayne, I think your hunch is right. Historically there has been a lot of crossover between the directors of Harcourt Inns and South West Leisure. Other pubs in the group also seem to have closed and, looking at the company structure, the chances are that the purchase of the freehold was made through South West Leisure and the hospitality operation was in Harcourt Inns meaning that creditors had no claim on the buildings when the company went into liquidation. If that is correct South West Leisure have three pub sites they probably overpaid for - having aquired them just before Covid. They will need to find new tenants that will help them cover any financing costs. |
