If he is really 'opening' the bus gate then he is deluded. This is the most pointless piece of road infrastructure I have ever seen. There was never a problem for buses at this junction, but the new bus gate and much shorter left turn lane will reduce capacity and is already causing long queues back to the business park. THere are many flats and new blocks along here. Never let Hounslow or TFL tell you that these schemes will reduce congestion or pollution, its a lie. Every single bus after crossing the junction stops by Sainsburys. So any few seconds gained by the new bus gate will be lost within 100 yards. These 'traffic planners' have no idea what they are doing. Remember, one of the criteria for 'success' of CS9 is congestion, especially buses. As TFL only measure bus speeds, and are doing everything they can to help buses, queues for all other vehicles are considered irrelevant.
