As others have mentioned, many CHR restaurant closed because the main holding company/owners got into financial difficulties and their whole chain either closed down or had to retrench - Carluccios, Jamies, Jackson and Rye, Patisserie Valerie, and the rest.  I don't think any amount of furious eating out by Chiswick residents would have made any difference. The main problem with Five Guys is their garish décor which will 'lower the tone', mixed reviews about their employment practices, and the likelihood of it being a gathering place for delivery mopeds blocking the cycle track/pavement. See what I did there? Got mopeds AND cyclist into the same blog! Off you go everyone!
