Hounslow recycling. Christmas cards. Cut or tear off the glitter section and put it in the waste bin. Recycle the non - glittery page of the card in your blue recycling box. Or save cards and create gift tags for Christmas 2020. Christmas wrapping paper. Avoid shiny, glitter or foil wrapping as it can’t be recycled. Before recycling, remove any sticky tape and decorations such as ribbons and bows as these cannot be recycled. Wrapping paper can only be recycled if it passes the scrunch test ( scrunch the paper in your hand and if it stays in a ball it can be recycled ) - simple paper wrap can be recycled in your blue box, but foil or glitter - decorated paper cannot and needs to go in the general waste. Don’t let your recycling go to waste. It may seem such a small detail - a wrong item in the recycling container - but it represents a global problem that’s preventing thousands of tonnes of recyclables from ever seeing a second life. One non - recyclable item can spoil an entire batch of otherwise good materials.. Small electrical items ( Weee ) such as alarm clocks, baby monitors, cameras, kettles, toasters, computer games and blenders can be recycled. Place in a small bag next to your boxes on your collection day. |
