Having used the resited pedestrian crossing at Kew bridge a few times now, I'm concerned about its safety - particularly for locals used to the old crossing. It's much longer than it was, as there's no halfway stopping point. If you're going from Thames Road to the shops under the flats, the new starting point is situated further left than it was so there's no way of seeing around the corner for vehicles coming from the roundabout, as you used to be able to and there are sometimes very tempting gaps in the traffic which would now be best to ignore. Then you have to wait for the traffic from Brentford. I suspect many of us used to nip over when the lights were still red, not waiting for the green man. Not such a good idea now. |
