The government recognises that police numbers are too low and has announced an increase of 20,000 police officers. The point in London, though, is that the Met Police force is funded by the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan. There is huge wastefulness in City Hall. The GLA Conservatives have identified nearly £83 million that could be used to put an extra 1,378 police officers on the beat in London. All Sadiq Khan needs to do is stop wasting our money and instead prioritise tackling crime. Here's the wastefulness: https://www.glaconservatives.co.uk/10-ways-sadiq-khan-has-wasted-your-money.html Here's the alternative plan: https://www.glaconservatives.co.uk/our-budget-plan.html And here's the Mayor of London saying London is "not less safe" than it was before he took over despite evidence from the Met Police: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YGS5LjR_uCE Meanwhile, locally, the promised follow up public meeting made by our deputy tri-borough commander, has been withdrawn. Cllr Ranjit Gill is continuing to press for it to be reinstated. Our first two public meetings on the future for policing in Chiswick were a chance for residents to put their views to the police, and for the police to report back. We need the third, promised, follow up meeting to find out what has happened since and what is to be done next to keep crime down in Chiswick. And we need Sadiq Khan to prioritise increasing police numbers not wastefulness. |
