You would have thought that if we are to have a Prime Minister who has pledged to lie down in front of the bulldozers if they were proceeding with Heathrow then the third runway would effectively be dead.

However, the Times has reported from a hustings meeting organised by the 1922 committee that, when asked about Heathrow by Greg Hands, Johnson said that the decision had already been taken by parliament. Given that he has expressed a willingness to prorogue parliament to avoid it reaching a decision that he doesn't like on another matter this seems like a very lame excuse.

It is slightly depressing that very few people seem to think this is a big deal.
