I have and I still take the same meaning. We are not talking about rat-runs for cyclists here but the primary route by which they go from north to south. The assumption that the overwhelming proportion of cycle journeys go east/west is not a sound one. My information on the likely issues over funding is sound. Hard decisions are having to be made on the upgrade of the Jubilee and Northern lines. It seems unlikely that CS9 will be immune from such budget constraints as the necessary will always get priority over the desirable. If there is a central government or EU pot of funds which allow it to be built then maybe it would proceed but if TfL are saying we are delaying tube upgrades (including the Piccadilly line stopping at Turnham Green) but proceeding with cycle infrastructure the response isn't likely to be that positive. |
