Paul,as you say,if cyclists use this cut through with care. There shouldn't be any problems. The problems will arise when the cut through is being used by a cyclist that isn't using the cut through with care.On 30th Aug this year,a cyclist collided with my car causing close to £3000 worth of damage.I was lucky,my insurance covered this because the cyclist had no insurance. If my insurance had only been 3rd party,i'd be left with a bill for £3k.That would have meant to recover this money (if he actually had the funds) I would have had to have gone through the hassle of sueing him.And whenever there is a cyclist v car collision, the police always look to blame the car driver for the accident. In my own accident, they were trying to put the slant on it that i'd just pulled across the road in front of the cyclist. It's only because we were all sat in a queue of traffic that other drivers told the police the cyclist had come up the inside of the line of stationary traffic at a stupid speed that I wasn't held at fault |
