I wondered why it looked so empty when I went in there on Saturday. Have bought items at both Chiswick Auctions and High Road auctions many times and on the whole been happy. When I had a problem at High Road auctions (an antique dinner set was wrapped when I went to pick it up and after they carefully put it in a cab for me and cab driver carefully and gently drove home and lifted it in for me some items were broken they refunded a sum for the broken items without quibble but it was annoying that they must have known they were broken/cracked before they wrapped them). No complaints about either but I have heard many arguments going on at the desk while I have been in High Road auctions, mainly it seemed from sellers whose items had never been put on display or who had not been paid. I hope High Road Auctions is resurrected under improved ownership, it was fun wandering round and having a coffee or glass of wine there. |
