Rima dear – I hope you don't mind but I want to offer a snippet of well intentioned creative criticism. I'd have thought it was plain as mustard that I'm 100% anti-wheelie. So why did you write your “I'm not sure that you're with me ...” line??? I realise you may be writing 'straight' or you may well have been trying to use some variety of understated wititism of your own invention. Either way, I often wonder whose side you're on – simply because you regularly hide your message amongst the waffle. Successful campaigners cannot afford to either write or speak like that. Ever! They are always absolutely straightforward and very clear about what they want. Or what they do NOT want. And they use far fewer words. They make it impossible for anyone to misunderstood the message. Over the Glebe campaign you wrote far too much too often. And now you've probably long passed the point where you're properly read. So think on. Yes, I'm in Ealing. And yes – please be an oik. Be the leading oik if you fancy. I'd follow your banner and get myself arrested anytime. Maybe we could end up in gaol together. PS:- I walked through the wheelie-bin ridden Glebe Estate today. It made me weep! All those involved in that campaign... They lost! |
