I have had a couple of ansaphones wrecked by power outages in the past (I suspect it was less the outage than the on-off-on-off which preceded it), but have tended to see them as an Act of God - such as when a tree branch hits the power cables and shorts them out. It sounds more probable that your equipment has been damaged by a spike in supply rather than the power cut itself, and you can fit anti-spike sockets (which can be simple plug-ins) to protect sensitive kit. I would expect Maplins to stock them. The only real way of protecting your electronics from a power outage would be to install some sort of UPS (uninterrupted power supply) system, as many offices do. |
