Over the last few years my Dad and I have had no qualms about going back to a turkey left outside the fridge for about a week. If it's removed from the cooking tray , well covered with cling film and foil and hands are always clean when going back for cold cuts then it is fine.  It does help that my dads kitchen is the least used room during the festivities so only gets above 12 degrees  for about an hour during breakfast. Before fridges  were common , people just kept stuff covered and in the colder larder room.
