Personally I would sniff first, then see if it was pink and then think about cooking it in a pie.

have only just retired the turkey from sandwich duty and cooked it in a double crust pie last night with taragon sauce, carrots and peas ....... loverly :)

Oh - and don't throw away until you have boiled it down to get stock!
