| Happy New Year from the home of the mighty All Blacks and Lydia Ko, not to mention 4 million other Kiwis (including a couple of hundred thousand lucky pommie imports) and 40 million friendly sheep. This short and smug message comes to you from Hanmer Springs in the central South Island, where the weather today has been kind and the sheep delicious. And the Steinlager crisp and frosty. Tomorrow, my trusty campervan takes us to the west coast to walk on glaciers and through rainforests, then it's on in due course to Queenstown, the adventure capital of New Zealand, where I won't be partaking of bungee jumping, heli skiing or white water rafting. Then it's off home in a fortnight to the coolest little capital in the world. God Bless all in Chiswick and other locations in winter's grim grasp. CCF |
