So - oh narrow crusty ones..  You can't stand soap operas, you don't do light comedy, you've almost certainly never ventured as far into London's East End as the Theatre Royal, Stratford -  and you believe all actresses should be like Helen Mirren and Judy Dench!

Mmm – not what one might term “versatile in the taste department” are we...

Ever heard of the late great Joan Littlewood?   Or Tony Richarsdon?  (that's the gay one btw who married Vanessa Redgrave and spawned Natasha & Jolie) ..  Think the original “Oh What A Lovely War” was a film... Not quite enough of a luvvie to know sod all about “Fings Aint Wot They Used To Be”  and “Sparrers Can't Sing”...   Don't believe Carry On movies have any place whatsoever in our culture?

Could go on...  But quite apart from Vanessa's (quite separate & legitimate)  allergy to all things like 'honours' and 'tories'.. this is the kind of short-sighted ill-informed thread that's likely to get this site a bad name..

PS :- If (like me) you enjoyed Downton Abbey .. you were also enjoying classic Soap/Eastenders storylines - with pretty frocks and stunning locations....

PPS: most of us spell the word tits - tits....  NOT t**s
