You can also ask whether it is more logical to make full use of all the recycling services that the Council provides you for your Council Tax or to have to have the stress of having too much waste and recycling and having to worry about how you are going to get rid of it. *It is easier if the separation of waste has been the norm for you for all of your life. *It is easier if the whole family is involved. *You are lucky that you still have a weekly residual waste collection. *Recycling doesn't all have to be collected from kerbside. There are supermarket and street banks. It is easier if you know where they are. *Most packaging is now designed for recycling - all you have to do to flatten many boxes is undo the sticky tape across the bottom. Squashing plastic bottles and steel and aluminium cans reduces the volume. *Perhaps there is something that you could have been separating out for recycling that you have missed which will give you extra residual waste space? *Councils worldwide do this - it is not just your local Council. People worldwide do this not just in the UK and have been doing it for years. England and the UK are rather slow compared to others. The other countries in the UK were ahead of England with the carrier bag charge. *Maybe you have a friend or neighbour who could help you out? Not everyone is at home for Christmas. *The Council web pages are there with lots of information. People often ask on here if they are having trouble or don't understand the information given on the website or in the magazine and there are some very helpful forumers as well as the unhelpful ones. The website info is great because it is there 24/7. You can also access the latest Hounslow Matters magazine online. |
