| There was a motorcycle speedway track in Chiswick, on Mortlake Road. It might have been the old cycle speedway track. It was only ever a training track but the team rode some away matches as the Chiswick Nomads. When Wimbledon closed down in 2005 there were attempts to find a new site in the London area and one of the options was the Polytechnic stadium near Dukes Meadows. Needless to say, the proximity of housing put the lid on the idea. |
